Threaded Rods

Threaded rod, also known to as stud, or threaded bar, is a long threaded rod or bar that has a screw thread along the full length. Think of it like a bolt, only longer but without a head. The “M” stands for metric and the number proceeding this is the nominal diameter of the bar in millimetres, therefore, M10 threaded rod has a diameter of 10 mm. Its commonly used to fasten heavy timber or metal together. In most cases washers and nuts are needed to be able to complete the fixing securely. This type of fastener provides a much stronger and secure fixing than using nails and screws on heavy and large structures. Cutting threaded rods to size is able with chemical resin.
